In April, LifeArk Development Consortium (LDC), a partnership between GDS Architects/LifeArk, SPC., United Trust Realty Corporation, and Illumination Foundation, was selected by the Home For Good Funder’s Collaborative for an award under the 2019 Accelerating Permanent Supportive Housing RFP.
LDC proposed standard development packages designed for typical LA lot sizes of 50’ x 100’ or 50’ x 150’ on three lot types: in-fill lot, corner lot, and rear alley lot. Each lot will accommodate a single-family residence plus an ADU to create 6 or 8 micro-apartment units overlayed with Illumination Foundation’s micro-community wraparound services programming to support the well-being of residents and counteract against social isolation. This development schema will allow the team to identify thousands of empty R-1 lots throughout the County for PSH development.
The award entails pre-development funding and in-kind support from United Way Home For Good and the Funder’s Collaborative made up of private and public funders such as the Aileen Getty Foundation, Annenberg Foundation, Weingart Foundation, Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, and various LA County cities and Board of Supervisors, Housing Authorities, and Homeless Services and Departments.
“Through this funding opportunity, the Funder’s Collaborative hopes to build on its long-standing history of investing in the growth of the housing development pipeline by supporting projects that test creative concepts and further our collective impact and understanding of how to advance housing solutions to end homelessness in LA County.”
